Smartcomm, has received national recognition for its work in smart home technology from the industry trade association, CEDIA (the Custom Electronic Design and Installation Association). Smartcomm won the Best Multi-dwelling category at the annual CEDIA Awards.
Held in association with Sky, Dynalite and Dymo, the CEDIA awards ceremony took place at the Brewery in London on Friday 3 April 2009. Skynews.com anchor, Martin Stanford was on hand to present Smartcomm with the prestigious accolade, which was awarded for their work in turning the Grade II listed, 1938 Art Deco country house, Charters, into 34 hi-tech luxury apartments. With great attention to detail, the resulting system incorporates a ground-breaking concierge system that brings smart technology to a whole new level.
Smartcomm has designed the system to allow Charters residents to access a huge range of lifestyle features at the touch-of-a-button. For example, residents can reserve a table at a local restaurant, order a takeaway, request a car from the Valet or organise maintenance services to be carried out – talk about luxury living! In addition to this, residents can also use this technology to automatically reserve tennis courts, racquetball courts, spa sessions and book golf tee times, which can all be done remotely from their Crestron touchpanel.
Commenting on their award, Smartcomm’s MD, Steven Worrell said "We are enormously proud of this award from CEDIA as this was an extremely challenging project for our design and installation team. This is the first time that such an integrated solution for a multi-dwelling project has been undertaken in the UK and as such our relationships with our suppliers and in particular Crestron was very important. The end result is a fantastic development that integrates a myriad of the latest technologies together as one seamless solution.”

Smartcomm is a longtime member of CEDIA and, after winning the best international project award in 2007 and Best Integrated Home under £100,000 in 2008, this is the third CEDIA Award for the company.
The prestigious CEDIA Awards recognise and promote high quality system design, installation and integration within the home automation industry. As well as the highest number of entries received for the awards, there were more than ever before from outside of the UK. From 90 entries, 28 were short listed and the judging panel, made up of a select group of industry professionals, had the tough task of deciding the nine winners.
