Smartcomm is partnering with leading events organiser CMP Information Limited and leading distributors of IFC based BIM software, BIM Products (www.bimproducts.net) to create a major new feature called the 'Office of the Future' at Total Workplace Management – The FM and Estates Event on 8th & 9th October 2008 at London Olympia.

This major new feature will bring two cutting-edge technologies together in a way never before seen, with application for FM, M&E, and Energy projects. Visitors will be able to manipulate the most advanced 3D CAD Building Information Model via the latest giant plasma touch screen technology. By virtually ‘picking up’ the model via the touch screen visitors will be able explore the buildings every structure and system - access ALL of the FM and asset information related to EVERY object in the building, and discover the projected energy performance of the design.
Paul Simpson of BIM Products comments: “The Office of the Future will be the first time an interactive 3D Facilities Management building model has been shown in public. The hands on experience will be enhanced through the amazing large format plasma touch screen technology showcased by Smartcomm”.

As well as the 103-inch Panasonic Plasma retrofitted with a U-Touch interactive frame making it the World’s largest interactive display, Smartcomm will be showcasing some of the most cutting-edge innovations in Audio-Visual technology at this exciting new feature including an exclusive of the World's largest 108-inch HD LCD Display by Sharp. Able to run 24 hours a day 7 days a week, the Sharp 108" can deliver world leading high definition performance in even the toughest environments. This superb collection of display screen technology will also include the Infinite Plasma Wall which features optional Burn in Compensation (also known as BIC) technology, meaning the screens can be used to display rarely changing or static imagery, without the risk of burn-in usually suffered by Plasma displays. This new innovation makes the Infinite plasma perfect for use 24 hours a day.

These large format displays have been specifically chosen to allow BIM Products to demonstrate the most advanced 3D Facilities & Asset Management software in the world known as ArTrA. BIM Products will be demonstrating how a Building Information Model (BIM) is used for Facilities Management and what is possible using the latest FM and asset technology. As well as explaining the theory, BIM Products will show how ArTrA is currently being used on the UK’s largest hospital construction project. The demonstrations will not only highlight the strengths of this ground-breaking new software but will also emphasize the achievements of the Audio Visual industry and how it is constantly improving technologies to meet the requirements of an ever demanding commercial environment.
In addition, Smartcomm will be demonstrating the latest full HD Video Conferencing Systems from Polycom. Visitors will have the opportunity to experience first hand the advancements in video conferencing and how organisation can actively reduce their carbon footprint whilst continuously achieving business results. With such life-like interaction available in an instant and the benefits far outweighing costs, Smartcomm will demonstrate that Video Conferencing is a real alternative to travel and one that should be adopted by all businesses.

Smartcomm will also be demonstrating state-of-the-art control and automation systems from Crestron designed to simplify and streamline technology in boardrooms, conference rooms and throughout an entire facility.
And if that wasn't enough, visitors to the stand will have the opportunity to experience something truly unique with the AdFloor - an interactive projection system that uses optimized motion detection to change the underfoot display in real time when someone walks, runs or dances over it.
Don’t miss this opportunity to see an impressive display and collaboration of innovative technologies that are likely to shape the way offices of the future operate.
